Happy New Years Eve Eve!
Tonight marked the 7th annual New Years Eve Eve bash, the second in a row that I couldn’t make due to circumstances beyond my control. Last year, it was getting sick that kept me from driving the hour to Rochester, MN. This year it was the freezing rain.
In retrospect, with the power outage we had at the house, I’m kind of glad I wasn’t able to make it this year as I probably would have freaked out coming home to no power and worrying about Maxwell freezing. Although it only lasted about an hour, with my luck it would have gone all night had I been away. Such is life.
So here I sit, updating my blog I haven’t touched since Tumblr crashed a long time ago (and I’m not even talking about this last big crash about a month ago). It’s 2:30 in the morning and I’m firmly entrenched in insomnia and feeding it by staying active. I’ve been slightly upset about a Christmas present I ordered not arriving here on time and as of today, it still hadn’t arrived although I ordered it on the 10th. I’ve been told to give it til the 3rd, but we will see. I however got a great present from my girlfriend tonight. Two parts, one being the book Glory In the Fall: The Greatest Moments In World Series History. Clearly I know what book I’m reading next. The other part is an official Major League baseball from the inaugural season of Target Field where the Minnesota Twins play.
I had a chance at grabbing one off of a foul ball at a game this past summer which would have been awesome! Alas, I missed it and it eventually ended up in the hands of a little kid after my friend gave it to him. Normally, I would have given a foul ball away too, but maybe not this one because of the special stamp only being used that year at that park. I’m not a huge collector of things, but I do like baseball memorabilia.
That was pretty cool which makes me ultra bummed that my present for her hasn’t arrived yet (if it ever does, I’m not keeping my hopes up) so I went and purchased a domain name for my girlfriend. She didn’t have her own name owned, neither do I but at least mine is taken by someone, so I bought it for her. I don’t know what she’ll do with it, or if she will even keep it beyond the year I bought it, but at least it was something which made me feel a bit better about taking a gift from her.
Well, I’ll try to be a bit better about updating here but I won’t promise anything.
